We are thrilled to announce that J Davies’ stunning image, ‘Ash in the Window’, has been selected as a finalist for this year’s Bowness Prize!
This work was featured in J’s Photo2024 exhibition, ‘In Case We Don’t Live Forever’, a curated selection from their archive spanning 2018-2023.
As a multidisciplinary Takataapui artist, J Davies captures contemporary queer experience, fostering connections to community and culture while exploring themes of identity, intimacy, and neurodiversity. Their work celebrates queer bodies and trans joy.
Over the last 19 years, the William and Winifred Bowness Photography Prize, presented by the Museum of Australian Photography, has stood as a vital annual survey of contemporary photographic practice in Australia, making it one of the nation’s most prestigious awards.
This marks the second time J has been recognised as a finalist in this esteemed competition.
The exhibition will run from September 12 – November 10, at MAPh, 860 Ferntree Gully Road, Wheelers Hill.
