The first of six new hotels named after prominent Australian artists will open on June 1st this year. The Makin, is located at 48 Wellington Pde near Punt Road in East Melbourne, and is a 40 room art deco-style building, filled with artwork by the prominent Australian landscape artist and art critic Jeff Makin. Other hotels set to open include The Larwill in Prahran, The Storrier in a yet to be named location in Sydney, The Whiteley in South Yarra, The Olsen in South Yarra, and The Smart, also in Prahran. The hotels are being built by Asian Pacific Building Corporation, directed by William Deague
