We take great pleasure in introducing to you the artist, Mitchell (Mitch) McAuley, who will now be exclusively represented by James Makin Gallery in Victoria. Mitch will be having his first solo exhibition with our Gallery in October this year.
Born in 1962, Mitch McAuley is a mid-career Victorian artist with a strong national and international exhibition history including 3 highly acclaimed and successful solo exhibitions in Hong Kong and works already included in an enviable list of corporate and private collections. His paintings explore the Australian landscape and its many nuances through abstracted form in particular, the familiar space and contours of outback northern Victoria where his farmstead studio is found.
Mitch’s acute, sensory engagement and observation of the land has recently culminated in an impressive new body of work arising from a recent painting trip, together with a number of other artists including Martin King, to South Georgia Island, sub Antarctica. This work will form the foundation of Mitch’s highly anticipated, forthcoming exhibition, ‘snow’, to be held at James Makin Gallery in October this year.
As both an introduction to Mitch McAuley and his work and as a prelude to Martin King’s exhibition, South Georgia sub Antarctica, opening at our Gallery on 21 July, we invite you to visit our Gallery from Tuesday, 12 June to Saturday, 16 June to preview a select number of Mitch McAuley’s paintings from this new body of work.
We look forward to seeing you.
