Godwin Bradbeer and David Fairbairn selected for the inaugural Paul Guest Prize 2010

Congratulations to Godwin Bradbeer and David Fairbairn for being selected for the inaugural Paul Guest Prize 2010. David Fairbairn’s finalist work “Large Head S.A No 1” 2010 (acrylic gouache, ink, pastel and charcoal on paper, 210 x 183 cm) is illustrated here. Godwin Bradbeer’s finalist piece “Beathing Man Version # 2” 2009 (chinagraph, pastel dust, silver oxide on paper, 141 x 141 cm) is currently on display as part of his stunning solo exhibition “Gravitas”, current until June 26th.

This award which is held at Bendigo Art Gallery is a non-acquisitive cash prize of $10,000 which will be held every two years, highlighting contemporary drawing practice in Australia. The Prize was initiated by former Family Court Judge and Olympic rower, the Honourable Paul Guest QC and encourages artists from across Australia to engage with the important medium of drawing and to create challenging and unique art works.

David Fairbairn will be having a solo exhibition at James Makin Gallery in October 2010, stay tuned for further details.
