Prizes

Congratulations to Martin King on his recent success in the $10,000 Broken Hill Regional Art Gallery Acquisitive Prize. Martin won in the Outback Art Prize category, with his print ‘Parchment: going over old ground 3000 feet’, an etching with watercolour and encaustic. This prize is open to all artists addressing the theme of the Australian outback. His work is available to view online, and in both our Fitzroy Print Room and Armadale Gallery.

In other news, Eolo Paul Bottaro was also successful in winning the $10,000 People’s Choice Award, part of the 2006 Metro 5 Art Award announced in January. His tempera and oil painting, ‘Tri Portrait of Rick Amor: allegory of time governed by prudence’, was voted as the most popular in the exhibition. Over 3000 viewers voted in the prize. Bottaro’s work is available to view online, and at our Armadale Gallery.
