CONGRATULATIONS: James Makin Gallery artists selected for major Art Prizes.

Dagmar Cyrulla has been selected for the prestigous Doug Moran Portrait Prize. This is Australia’s richest art prize, and the richest portrait prize in the world with the winner receiving $100,000. Finalists will be exhibited at The State Library of New South Wales from 10 March to 4 May 2008.

Both Adam Nudelman and Jeffrey Makin have been selected for the 2008 John Glover Prize for a Tasmanian landscape painting. The Glover prize winner will recieve $30,000 plus a maquette, bronze sculpture of the John Glover by Peter Corlett valued at $4,000.

The winner of the Glover Prize will be announced at the official opening on Friday 7th March, 2008. The exhibition of finalists’ work will be held at
the Falls Park Pavilion in Evandale, Tasmania and open to the public from Saturday 8th March to Tuesday 11th March.

Mitchell McAuley has been selected for the City of Albany Art Prize, an annual acquisitive prize open to all Australian artists for a two dimensional painting, with a first prize of $25 000. Exhibition Dates: March 14 � 30, 2008.

Mitch has also been chosen for The Mt Buller Art Prize which is on display from 21 to 24 March 2008 . This year, acquisition prize money for three paintings totals $32,500, the sculpture acquisition prize is $15,000 and the People’s Choice prize is $2,500. Congratulations!
