Godwin Bradbeer Floor Talk at Monash Gallery of Art (2011-12-01)

Godwin Bradbeer features in an important photographic exhibition currently on display at Monash Gallery of Art, titled “Brummels”.

Bradbeer's art practice during the 1970s was predominantly photographic, and his early photographic work from this period features in the show about Brummels - the first Australian art gallery dedicated to exhibiting the work of photographers. Opened in 1972 by photographer Rennie Ellis above a restaurant in South Yarra, the humble Brummels exhibition space was the hub of an emerging community of art photographers. MGA's exhibition pays tribute to this important moment in the history of Australian photography, and allows audiences to reflect on the artistic styles and concerns of the time.

Artists include: Robert Ashton, Godwin Bradbeer, Warren Breninger, Ian Dodd, Rennie Ellis, Sue Ford, George Gittoes, Gerard Groeneveld, Ponch Hawkes, Carol Jerrems, Jean-Marc Le Pechoux, Peter Leiss, Steven Lojewski, Rod McNicol, David Moore, Jon Rhodes, Wesley Stacey, Geoff Strong and Henry Talbot.

This Saturday 3rd December at 2pm, Godwin Bradbeer will be giving a talk about this fascinating show and his involvement in this important era of photographic achievement in Australia, at the Monash Gallery of Art.
